LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- Four different women's college basketball teams faced off at Marywood University Saturday. While it looked like they were battling it out against each other, they were actually teaming to fight a deadly disease.

Coach Brian Donoghue of King's College was diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer in the summer of 2013.

The money raised from this weekend's classic will help support Donoghue and his wife and three children. Teams participating included Mount Aloysius College, Keystone College, Marywood University, and King's College.

Players said this was a great way to give back to their coach, who hasn't missed a game or even a practice since his diagnosis in 2013.

"We've been lucky where our health has stayed up pretty good," said Coach Donoghue. "Ultimately, [I've] been lucky to get out here on the days and feel well even on the medication days. I haven't been really knocked down and I've been very lucky with how my body is reacting to the treatment it's going through."

Players from all four teams were wearing gray socks and gray warm-up shirts to support the coach. The two-day tournament continues Sunday starting at 2 p.m.
