COALDALE -- An 8-year-old boy in Schuylkill County got a chance to play Santa Claus by donating presents, including some of his own, to the Janet Weis Children's Hospital near Danville.

8-year-old Connor Reighard is like any other boy, playing with video games he got for Christmas at his home in Coaldale.

But not every child would volunteer to give up some of their gifts so that others could enjoy them.

“It feels like good to be nice,” said Connor.

Connor and his dad decided to donate some of Connor`s Christmas gifts to the Janet Weis Children's Hospital near Danville, as well as some collected from the community.

“This Christmas he got some gifts and I said to him, 'Would you like to help people?' And he said, 'Yes, I`d like to take gifts down to the sick kids,' and I said, 'Okay, son, I`ll do this,” said Anthony Reighard.

“They can`t go and enjoy the fun time,” said Connor.

The Janet Weis Children's Hospital has a personal meaning for the family.

Connor was born in 2006 with a genetic heart condition and went through surgery there.

Eight years later, Connor is a thriving boy who is able to play baseball and football.

He and his dad wanted to give back to the hospital that made this all possible.

“And we took them down to Danville. We delivered them. He got to take some pictures with the nurses he had when he was born and we`re looking for donations for next year already,” said Anthony.

Connor and his father hope to collect enough donations to be able to add more hospitals to their Christmas list.

Anthony Reighard says anyone looking to help can call him at 570-952-4120.
