MOSCOW -- Wondering what to do with all of that packaging from this year's Christmas gifts?

One group of students in Lackawanna County want to help recycle it.

A seventh grade science class at North Pocono Middle School hosted a holiday packaging recycling event.

The kids collected wrapping paper, Styrofoam and cardboard.

The event was part of a contest with the Philadelphia Zoo promoting proper recycling, climate change and wildlife.

Organizers said the kids are getting a lesson on the environment while having fun competing.

"Students know that their everyday actions have a big lasting impact," said Maura Farr, North Pocono Middle School teacher.

If the class comes out on top of the competition, they'll get tickets to the Philadelphia Zoo.

The competition concludes in March and the seventh graders plan to have more recycling events in the future.

The next event, E-Cycling, is scheduled for February.
