SCRANTON -- Businesses in a community in Lackawanna County thought their Main Street needed to look a little more festive this year.
Old Forge has transformed into "Snow Forge".
A little tinsel and some lights can make a big difference. It's brightened up the window at Merrit Boyle's gym in Old Forge. If you keep going down Main Street, the glittering Christmas trees multiply.
"What I like about it, when you drive through and you see the children, you know, and their eyes light up. My nephews, we drive through the town and they say, 'oh look at this tree, look at that tree'. It creates a sense of community, you feel a part of something," said Boyle who owns The Pride Personal Fitness.
Charlie Brown taught us a tree only needs a little love. Old Forge Borough thought its business district needed love too this holiday.
Business owners were asked to each decorate a tree of their own.
"I think it's very festive for the holidays and I think that it is a good idea and it makes the town look a lot better," said Justin Boyko of Taylor.
The Christmas trees were the brain child of Old Forge's mayor and a few borough employees. All they did was provide the trees, the tree stand, and they gave it all a name: "Snow Forge".
Then, it was up to the businesses to put a little love into each tree. Some stuck with a theme that fit their business. Domiano Eye Care Center decked the tree with glasses and eyeball ornaments.
"I think it's beautiful just to see how everyone decorates their trees and it just shows their personality and their business," said owner Michele Domiano.
The business owners say the Christmas trees have helped with their curb appeal.
"To drive through the community, you see this tree, that tree, it kind of spotlights a business," added Boyle.
The trees will be collected in January when Snow Forge thaws and becomes Old Forge again.
