GREGG TOWNSHIP -- Christmas is a time for sweets and treats and a candy store in Union County is busy filling last-minute orders.

Dale Metzker of Williamsport spent his morning buying candy for Christmas. He says Purity Candy near Allenwood is his downfall.

"You can't come in here and just buy one item. You look around and you find you've got to have this and you've got to have that."

Purity Candy is in its 107th year in Union County. Employees say this is the busiest time of the year.

"Corporate orders, so we personalize things and get them to their destinations for you. We get them ready, gift wrap them, and you can come and pick them up at the store," said Purity Candy manager Rhonda Hornberger.

All candy is made on location. Employees were not making their signature candy canes while we were there but they were busy making another sweet treat. The staff at Purity Candy says the hot item this Christmas is chocolate-covered pretzels. They make them from morning to night.

"It doesn't seem like we can make enough of them. It's that salty sweet good taste," said Hornberger.

She says chocolate caramel sea salts are also popular this year but everyone has their favorites.

"Usually milk chocolate, that's my favorite and that's their favorite. I stopped by here a couple of weeks ago and bought some caramels and now my grandson and my daughter-in-law both love the caramels so I had to come back and do it again," Metzker said.

"They have the best chocolate. We used to do the Hershey bars, but this place by far beats it. Best chocolate around, and supporting a local business? Yes, yes, completely!" said Kristen Miller of Watsontown.

Purity Candy is open on Christmas Eve until 2 p.m. for those last-minute shoppers!
