LOWER TOWAMENSING TOWNSHIP -- State police confirm that four people died Friday night in a crash in Carbon County.
The wreck happened around 8:30 p.m. on Dairy Road in Lower Towamensing Township, near Palmerton.
Troopers said four people died and two others were taken to the hospital.
Relatives were on scene the crash creating a memorial for the four lives lost.
The sight of flowers and toys placed on the scorched earth was almost too much for Missy Murray to bear.
The tears kept coming as she stood in the place where two of her children died Saturday night along Dairy Road near Palmerton.
Nate Murray, 16, and his sister Courtney, 13, along with another 16-year-old boy were in a car driven by a 17-year-old boy.
Police said the car collided head on with a car going in the opposite direction and the force of the crash split the teenagers' car in two.
The passengers of the second car were able to escape the fiery wreck and were treated for non life threatening injuries.
All four teens in the Chevy Cavalier died at the scene and troopers say speed was a factor.
Missy said she hopes when people see what she has lost, they will remember and be careful when they are out on the road.
All day long family members came to the scene sobbing at what they saw.
"Courtney was just this big ball of energy, she just had the most beautiful smile," said Sarah Joy Nixon, a cousin.
Family members said Nate Murray was an exceptionally dedicated big brother, and was looking forward to becoming a father in the spring.
Raelynn Strohl saw her cousins just hours before they died.
"We were hanging out at the bus stop. Looking forward to [Nate Murray] becoming a father," said Strohl.
Several of the older teens attended Palmerton Area High School where Courtney Murray would have gone next year.
A moment of silence was held before the girls basketball game and a team of counselors will be on hand Monday.
