DERRY TOWNSHIP -- A robber got away with cash from a farm market in Montour County Thursday afternoon.

According to state police, the hold up at Burkholder's Farm Market near Washingtonville happened just before 1:30 p.m.

Troopers say a man with a gun went into the store near the intersection of Route 54 and Route 254, got some cash, and ran off.

He was last seen heading west on Route 254.

The Mennonite couple who runs the store was in the back eating lunch when the hold up took place.

When asked if she worried the robber would come back, Dawn Yoder answered," Not very scared. The Lord only knows. Our time is in his hands."

Dawn and Clifford Yoder say faith is a big part of their life, something they believe could help the robber change his ways.

"I am hoping that this person will feel the guilt and realize there is something different in life, and there is a different way to live life, and he will see his need for Jesus and turn to Christ, especially this time of year," said Clifford Yoder.

People we spoke to from the area are outraged that a robber would target a country farm stand.

"Such good people," said Chris Cromis of Washingtonville. "Always willing to help anybody. If you walk in there and say you ain't got no money, you need milk and bread, they would be the first ones to help you."

Cromis says, if he had been around when the robbery happened, some of the apples at the farm stand might have helped catch the culprit.

"I would have hit him right in the back of the head and knocked him right out ... We got all kinds of apples right here and I would probably use the russets or the jubiliees."

State police describe the robber as a white man in his 30s or 40s, with light hair and a medium build. He was clean shaven and wearing a dark knit hat with a green jacket and dark pants.
