MIFFLINBURG -- German heritage is on full display in part of Union County.

For the 26th straight year, Market Street in Mifflinburg is turned into Christkindl Market, a German Christmas celebration.

Market Street in Mifflinburg is usually filled with traffic, but for three days in December, it is transformed into an authentic German Christmas market.

Juergen Seefelt of Mifflinburg has had a food stand for each of those years.

"We used to do, oh, we did a few different things, goulash, but the bratwurst really took off so we've kept doing that," Seefelt said.

Rex Kerstetter says it was his first time at Christkindl Market.

"What's your favorite part so far?"

"Anything with french fries! That's my favorite," Kerstetter replied.

The outdoor festival is filled with vendors selling food and crafts.

Mike Marcolla came all the way from Pottsville.

"Second year, and it's nice people up here, a lot of good bargains for buying stuff for Christmas."

"Some of the fake Christmas trees are decorated with snow, but the real ones are, too. That's because of the recent snowfall here in Mifflinburg. People at Christkindl market say it makes the event that much more enjoyable.

"It's good. It's wintertime. It's Christmastime!" Marcolla said.

A lot of people say they enjoy the entertainment at Christkindl Market, and Saint Nicholas walks around and greets the children.

"I would like to make sure they all have a very merry and happy Christmas. Or if you prefer that in German, frohe Weihnachten! Merry Christmas to you all!"

Christkindl Market runs through Saturday in Mifflinburg.
