DUNMORE -- The Dunmore High School football team is getting ready for this weekend's championship game in Hershey.

The cheerleading squad and a gym full of classmates gave the Dunmore Bucks the sendoff you'd expect before they head to the AA state championship game on Saturday.

The Bucks invited the community to the pep rally in the high school gym. Because after all, it's the community that makes the Bucks' sendoff to Hershey unique.

It's not as loud as screaming fans in a gym. But, the signs of support around Bucktown mean just as much. The homemade signs on homes and businesses have become part of the tradition.

This is the fourth time the Dunmore Bucks have made the state title game in 25 years.

"I grew up in Dunmore, my kids went through Dunmore, my grandkids are going through Dunmore. So, we're big fans of the Bucks. So, these went up a couple of weeks ago," said Beth Zero of The Wonderland Gallery.

Zero is talking about the "Go Bucks" signs in the windows of her business right in the middle of town. She has had them up all season.

As Dunmore went on their winning streak, other businesses joined in. DOMA Importing Goods on Drinker Street took advantage of the wins to create an advertisement, too.

"I know we're already doing many antipasto platters for the game for people to take with them and they're taking the Italian meats and cheeses and things like that," said owner Dominic Mastri.

Mastri's been taking orders from tailgaters all week. The love between Dunmore's businesses and the Dunmore Bucks is most definitely mutual. Especially if there is a win on Saturday.

"This town will go crazy," Mastri said.

The Bucks kickoff on Saturday at noon in Hershey.
