LARKSVILLE -- A man is in the hospital after a violent home invasion in Luzerne County and it didn't take long for police to capture the suspect.
Jordan Barrett, 18, of Forty Fort is in custody facing multiple charges including aggravated assault, robbery, and attempted homicide.
According to police, Barrett allegedly stabbed John Kucirka inside his home on East Broadway Street in Larksville around 2 a.m. Sunday.
Barrett then fled the scene on foot into the wooded area behind the victim's home. Police were able to locate Barrett at his home just one hour later.
Investigators say Barrett told a friend earlier in the night that he wanted to steal a car and wanted to hurt someone after getting a new knife.
People in the area say normally their neighborhood is quiet and they never expected something like this to happen.
"I was really surprised. It's such a nice neighborhood. Something like this you wouldn't think would happen," said Michael Drago of Larksville.
The victim was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley hospital and is recovering. Barrett is locked up in the Luzerne County jail.
