MONROETON -- The storm hit Bradford County especially hard. Some spots saw around ten inches of snow leading up to thanksgiving. Newswatch 16 met folks near Towanda who spent part of their holiday shoveling snow.

Dennis Vanderpool shoveled outside his sister’s home near Towanda on Thanksgiving.

"I'm working up an appetite for Thanksgiving dinner," said Dennis Vanderpool.

Parts of Bradford County including Towanda had about 10 inches from the passing storm.

"Well they said five then six then we got almost eleven," said Richard Vanderpool.

"Shovel, shovel, shovel," said Diane Vincent.

Vanderpool's sister Diane Vincent spent the day inside cooking. She says the roads have cleared up.

"We even went for a ride in it when it first started and it was very slippery," said Vincent.

"Down the street kids playing outside did not seem to mind the snow. There are some folks who say they had to shovel out a few more parking spaces for family coming in for the holiday.

"We'll probably have about 30 people today," said Richard Johnson.

Cars were lined up in front Richard Johnson's home near Towanda. He helped shovel spaces out front while his aunts peeled potatoes inside.

"I don't think they mind it because they'll enjoy the big dinner," said Sharon Bailey.

A twenty-five pound turkey was carved and ready to serve when Newswatch 16 stopped by.

"We got everything before the snow came because we knew and we expect a lot more than this so, we're used to it," said Bailey.

By midday family started arriving just in time to stop shoveling and enjoy the holiday with family.
