POTTSVILLE -- The Pottsville Department of Public Works says they're ready for the winter weather that is heading towards Pennsylvania.

"We've got all of our trucks ready. We've got our plows on them, plenty of salt. We've got all 17 trucks. We're ready to go," said Pottsville parks foreman Tom Whitaker.

With a snow storm coming on a day where many people hit the roads, officials in Schuylkill County say they have enough staff to clear the roads but it's best to be patient and safe.

"Especially with it being the busiest day to travel, just kind of stay at home as long as you can or wait for us to come by your neighborhood."

Newswatch 16 caught up with some people doing some last minute shopping at Weis Markets in Pottsville.

While many were stocking up before the storm, others say they're not worried.

"The storm doesn't bother me! That's nothing. When I was a kid snow was over the fence into the yard," said Michael Kilousky of Middleport.

'I'm not worried about that storm! I love the snow. My husband doesn't," said Mary Wagner of Frackville.

Mangers at Weis say they have enough birds, eggs, and milk for the holiday shopping and the winter weather heading our way.

"We call it the perfect storm: Thanksgiving holiday and a snow threat. Milk, eggs, we are prepared," said Weis Markets assistant manager Jim Weaknecht.

Weis mangers say the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is usually their busiest shopping day but with the potential of a storm, they're seeing the bulk of the crowds a day early.

"We're ready to go. We're excited!"

Officials at Weis Markets say they will have cashiers at every register in their stores to speed up the process for shoppers from now until Thanksgiving.
