SCRANTON -- Members of the Riverside Vikings football team gave some of their time to help out the St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen in Scranton.
Some of the high school athletes said they saw a Facebook post that the kitchen on Penn Avenue needed some help and they decided to get involved.
About a dozen players did things like yard work and stocking shelves.
"I think it's great. We're here helping people who don't have much," said Joe McBride.
"When we had this opportunity, we had to go for it. There was no other option," John Plisko.
The Riverside players said they were tied up with football and school work for the last few months, but with the holidays almost here, they thought it was a perfect time to volunteer and give back to the community.
