STROUDSBURG -- The last thing you need as you are trying to get somewhere for Thanksgiving is bad weather. But after we broke a record high temperature Monday, snow is now forecast for Wednesday.

The storm Wednesday will hug the coast, so the father east you live - Wayne, Pike, Monroe Counties - the more snow you are likely to get.

The snow is supposed to start in the morning, last through the day and taper off at night.

It's hard to believe after barely needing a jacket outside Monday that nearly a half a foot of snow could be covering the ground by Wednesday evening, the day before Thanksgiving.

The storm that's heading our way will make travel tricky for thousands trying to get home including students at East Stroudsburg University.

Students head off to their last few classes of the week at ESU, focusing more on the Thanksgiving break, and that big feast ahead.

"A big turkey, pumpkin pie, apple pie all different kinds of deserts, stuffing, cranberry sauce is my favorite," said ESU sophomore Samantha Pelletier

Pelletier is planning to see her family back in Rhode Island, and now planning for some treacherous travel, thanks to a Nor'easter headed for the east coast.

"We`ll go up 95 and stuff, so if there is a snow storm it`s definitely going to delay us, but we`re hoping to get out before it comes."

Newswatch 16 Meteorologists are forecasting the storm will begin Wednesday morning -

Making some potentially slick conditions for travel in the Poconos and other parts of our area.

"Three to five inches of snow possible by the time the storm ends Wednesday night, at about midnight.  Not a crippling storm but enough to slow us down quite a bit," said Chief Meteorologist Tom Clark.

Some students are trying to hit the road, before the first flakes fall. Since ESU has no scheduled classes Wednesday.

"We can beat the snow, when other schools don`t get to beat the snow, so we`ll be safer going home while other schools might not be," said ESU sophomore Zigmund Piekos.

Not all students at ESU are able to hop in their cars and get out of town before that big storm hits, so some are preparing for a wintry blast.

Junior Cameron Foultz is staying in Stroudsburg for Thanksgiving and has to work on Black Friday. He's prepared to brave wintry conditions on Interstate 80 in the Poconos

"Pretty much just take caution, slow down, take your time, and enjoy the ride," said Foultz.

As of right now, Martz buses have not changed schedules out of the Poconos, but they'll be keeping a close eye on the forecast as we get closer to the busiest travel day of the year.
