SCRANTON -- 'Twas the month before Christmas when all through the city of Scranton there were many creatures stirring, parading through the streets to spread holiday cheer.
There were so many sights for the kids to take in--no sugar plums--but plenty of marching bands played their tunes.
On this frigid morning, families came prepared for a cold and wintry Santa parade.
"Hot chocolate and some blankets. We have quite a few layers [on]. I don't even know. We lost count," said Crystal Beynon of Greentown.
While the choir sang for the crowd, floats and dancing groups made quite a clatter along the parade route.
So many folks left the comforts of home to be there for the annual celebration, their wondering eyes awaiting a miniature sleigh, reindeer, and jolly old St. Nick.
"It's freezing. I can't get warm. I have boots on. I have two pairs of socks, pants, and three sweatshirts on and I'm still cold," said one parade goer.
Atop one of the floats, a troop of Pennsylvania State Police families, all who've captured hearts in recent months. Before dashing away, they wanted to say thank you to all.
"It means the world to us, northeast Pennsylvania. The weather sometimes it's a little hard, but the people are always warm," said Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan.
Then that chubby and plump jolly old elf made everyone laugh in spite of themselves. Another parade to say happy Christmas to all and to all a good day.
