AVOCA -- Police said they caught a man wanted for allegedly robbing a bank after chasing his losses at the casino.
Avoca police have filed charges against Michael McDonough, 46, of White Haven.
Investigators said McDonough went into the PNC Bank on Main Street in Avoca Friday afternoon, handed a note to a teller saying he had a gun, and demanded money.
Police were tipped off to where McDonough worked after someone recognized him in a surveillance photo.
Officers say McDonough told them he blew his paycheck at a casino and decided to rob the bank. They said he then spent most of that money at another casino.
As police took him to prison, McDonough told Newswatch 16 that he thinks he has a gambling problem.
McDonough was charged with robbery and terroristic threats. He is currently locked up in the Luzerne County jail.
