STROUDSBURG – There was a big celebration Thursday in Monroe County, as more than a dozen foster children were adopted by nine different families.

Lily is the newest addition to the Johnson family in Stroudsburg. This adorable 2-year-old girl was officially adopted during a ceremony at the Monroe County Courthouse. Her parents Craig and Elizabeth couldn't be happier.

"We're so excited, we're so excited that the chapter in her life before is closing and we get to be a part of that and the new chapter is opening," said Elizabeth Johnson.

The Johnsons fostered Lily almost since the time she was born, along with raising their own children - twin 9 year olds, a 5 year old and another foster child.

"We've had the privilege of having Lily in our house now for two years now and today finalizes the adoption. And for us as a family, it's a growth in the family," said Craig Johnson.

This adoption is just part of Monroe County's Adoption Day. Children and Youth Services works to finalize as many adoptions as possible and celebrates them all together to make the moment even more special.

"The judge makes a huge big deal out of it. All of the adoptive mothers are given flowers, all the kids are given a little gift," said Children and Youth Services Administrator Adelaide Grace.

This is only the second Adoption Day Monroe County has held, but it's the biggest one yet. 16 kids in total now have forever homes.

A party for all adopting families in Stroudsburg helped celebrate the big moment. The Johnsons brought along the whole family, who all are already in love with their new little girl.

"Watch our children love her, embrace her, expand their hearts and learning how to love has been a really awesome thing," said Johnson.

This 2 year old's in love with Disney movies like "Frozen," her teddy bear, and her new family, too.

"She's an energetic little girl, she always keeps life an adventure," said Johnson.

An adventure these families encourage others in Monroe County to take as well.
