This is the Slip Stone Pan! The maker claims, it's made out of high-end aluminum and will cook without using any oils, butter or non-stick cooking spray.  It has a four layer stone-like surface that retains heat, then evenly releases it to the food.

It even has a bendable handle for easy storing.

To test the Slip Stone Pan, Newswatch 16 went to City Cafe in downtown Scranton.  They specialize in Mediterranean food and they agreed to help us with this week's, "Does It Really Work?"

We started by reading the instructions and cleaning the pans.  A few things we noticed right away, the surface of this pan is rough like a rock.  Many pans need oil or butter to prevent things from sticking to the pan when cooking but not the slip stone!  T

The maker warns "do not use oil, butter or non-stick cooking spray on this pan."  It will ruin it.

We decide to make several dishes using the Slip Stone Pan.  First up, chicken!

We also cooked sides to go with the chicken

We even cooked things like eggs straight on the pan.  No butter or oils.

We cooked salmon without any oil and dry rice! At one point we even burned sugar in the pan but it wasn't sticking.

We cooked a lot of stuff in this pan to try and find its weak spots, but we really couldn't find any.  We were impressed.  The bigger question was, how does it taste?

Everything we tried was delicious and moist, not dried out at all.  We didn't use any oils, butters or cooking sprays.  That was impressive.

"We did a Lebanese fried rice, that's original with our restaurant. We didn't use oils, and that was very good. I was surprised. In fact, in some ways it's better because sometimes the oil gives it a heaviness that's undesirable," said Dominic Saadi, the manager of the City Cafe.
But later in the evening, we did find some weak spots in the Slip Stone armor! It wasn't until Shannon, one of our testers, tried cleaning it for the last time that she noticed not everything cooked in the pan was coming off.  Also, she thinks not being able to use olive oil and other things when cooking with this pan isn't always a positive thing.

There you have it, one volunteer loved it and gave it thumbs up. However, the other two were on the fence and give it a so-so.
