LUZERNE COUNTY -- Even before sunset, the temperature was already below freezing in the Hazleton area.

With more than a month before the official start of winter, people here say they’re already officially fed up with the cold.

“It’s too cold, way too cold,” said Kelly Mensinger of Hazleton.

“I hate it, really bad. I hate it,” said Michelle Berger of Pottsville.

“I hate this weather. It’s painful on my legs and I wish it was summertime again,” said Debra Whah of McAdoo.

“It’s very cold. This is really bad,” said Frank Hart. “No, no, I’m not happy with it at all.”

As the sun dropped, so did the temperatures, hitting 15 degrees in Hazle Township.

Outside the Lowe’s nearby, even the snowmen were complaining.

While inside, there was plenty of help to take the bite off that bone-chilling cold.

Eliana Lapaz and her mother filled up on supplies.

“Our rock salt and some things that frame the window because the cold air is seeping through the window so it’s freezing,” said Lapaz.

The wind was whipping in the higher elevations of Freeland, making outdoor working conditions even colder for the guys at a construction site.

“It’s pretty brutal. If you don’t have the proper weather apparel, it will take you down. It’s pretty bad,” said Art Coldren.

But the cold weather is actually a good thing for Sorrento’s Pizzeria in the borough, as more people opt to order in delivery.

“Obviously the cold weather, people don’t want to come out. Especially at lunch time, we have a lot of office workers, people working, so they want a delivery instead of having to run outside,” said manager Mike Malloy.
