MAYFIELD -- People came out in Lackawanna County Saturday to help a little girl.
A fundraiser was held at the Ponderosa Hotel in Mayfield for three-year-old Ella, who happens to be the granddaughter of Newswatch 16's Mike Stevens.
Ella has been battling a congenital heart defect since birth and has had three surgeries so far.
There were chicken dinners, a bake sale, and a raffle, all to help the family pay for medical expenses.
"These folks came out here today just to show their support, you know? To offer a few dollars when they can, and to help out someone else who happens to need it," said Stevens.
Stevens said while Ella would have really enjoyed being at the event, her condition kept her away.
