HARRISBURG -- Attorney General Kathleen Kane has not been at her office in Harrisburg in 24 days.

Dunmore police say the state-owned SUV carrying Kane and two security officers sideswiped a parked Jeep on Chestnut Street October 21.

Her office confirmed the attorney general suffered head and back injuries that have kept her off the job since.

But for several days, her office never issued a public statement detailing the crash, her injuries, or when she might return to her job in Harrisburg.

Thursday, the attorney general`s chief spokesperson, Renee Martin said by phone, "She knew everything that was going on, on a daily basis," said Martin.  "We were in constant communication, so it wasn`t really necessary to put her personal health issues out."

"The fact that she wasn`t around two weeks, and nobody seems to know what happened, I find very disturbing," countered government watchdog Eric Epstein of rockthecapitol.org,

Epstein says the attorney general made a big mistake by not telling the public about the crash in Dunmore right away.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the wreck happened when she was on her way to testify to a grand jury looking into possible leaks from her office.

"People wonder what's going on," said Epstein.  "And it arouses concern over whether she has the skill set to be Attorney General of Pennsylvania."

But spokeswoman Renee Martin says a news release put out today should answer those questions.

Martin says Kane has been doing the job by working from her home in Waverly Township in northern Lackawanna County.

Kane's office says the while the attorney general recovers from her injuries, she was at home this week reviewing the cases of workers in her office sending or receiving pornographic emails.

And then she sent out a directive from her home to fire four.

Meantime, the AG's news release says Kathleen Kane is still experiencing headaches from a concussion, nausea, and pain. But the release say doctors have cleared her to return to work November 24.
