MONTROSE -- Temperatures across northeastern and central Pennsylvania dropped dramatically over the course of Wednesday. And it's that drop that has businesses across our area scrambling.

Matt Holbrook has been landscaping in Susquehanna County for eight years. His crew is all done with seasonal leaf cleanup and now, the ground is beginning to freeze. That means his crew in Montrose is rushing to get everything else done.

"There's a ton of [jobs left]," Holbrook says. "If we don't get them now, we're going to have to wait until spring. We're completely booked. There's no way we could get any more projects done this fall. Its just too late in the season."

And it's not just those working outside looking to get it all done.

"I won't leave unless I have good tires on there," says Drucilla Gerrells of Hallstead.

Gerrells is just one of the customers clamoring for new tires.

"It's beyond crazy," says Tommy Kerr, manager of Kost Tire & Auto Service in Montrose. "Everybody is coming in and everyone has an emergency they need their snow tires on now."

Business is so busy for Kerr and his team that they're working six days a week and changing around 80 tires a day.

"Every one of the racks was full on Friday," he adds. "We are slowly but surely running out. Thank god we get daily deliveries of tires every day."
