KINGSTON -- For blocks throughout Kingston, people gathered along the parade route waiting for their chance to salute the men and women who serve or have served this country.

The 68th Annual Wyoming Valley Veterans Day Parade was complete with bagpipers, high school bands, and so many groups who play an important role in the defense of this country.

"It's a beautiful day as you can see, the crowd is pretty large. It's just nice to see people honor the veterans, especially the young veterans of today," said Ed Meade, veteran.

Meade served in the Air Force and came out with his grandchildren to show his thanks and appreciation for everyone else serving overseas.

"Fellas that are going to over to Afghanistan and Iran and those places, they go over for a year, come home and go back again," said Meade.

The parade honors marines, sailors, men, and women who've done what they could to answer the call to duty.

A parade like this brings the Wyoming Valley together to remember what the upcoming holiday is truly about.

Dorothy Ludden of Kingston said, "It's so great to see the soldiers go by and god love them. They're tremendous to do what they do."

"We've been coming here for a long time and we enjoy everything in the parade. We like to see all the soldiers and bands and floats and everything else," said Basil Lynch, a parade goer.

As veterans of both war and peace-time leave us, especially World War II, it's clear how much they've done for the country to deserve a parade and holiday.
