Family of Missing Elderly Woman Praying for Safe Return Home

HERRICK TOWNSHIP -- Bill Keim of Susquehanna County waits for the birds to come to his front porch, and at the same time waits for his wife to come home.

The road just outside of their home near Union Dale is where Harriet Keim was last believed to be on September 30.

Her husband, Bill, who has been by her side since 1949, is anxious for her return.

"When she was here, we used to keep the bedroom door locked from the inside to keep people out. That was the way mom liked it. Now I just leave the door unlocked, hoping she'll walk in," Keim said.

For weeks now, search crews have canvassed areas near Airport Road, each time with no new leads.

Harriet's youngest daughter is convinced she's alive and well, and that someone knows where she is.

"If she's not dead in the woods somewhere, which she is not, then where is she and what's going on?" Deborah Sanford said.

The Keim family spent several years in Maryland, living near Annapolis and Prince George County.

Family members say Harriet suffers from dementia.

They believe it's possible she traveled south toward Maryland, where some family members still live.

"The biggest thing is, once the original search is over, and you're out there and you're talking to people, and you're taking the flyers out, it's like, 'Oh, she's still missing?' It's, like, it's there on everybody's mind and then people go back to what they're doing," Deborah Sanford said.

For Debbie and her father, they pray every day, hoping each day that comes will be the one where Harriet comes home.

"Come on home, mom. I'm lonely here. I miss you with all my heart," Bill Keim said.

Harriet Keim is described as being 5'1", approximately 100 pounds with shoulder length gray hair. She was last known to be wearing blue jeans, loafers and a caramel colored shirt with a floral embroidery.

If you have any information on her disappearance, you're asked to call state police at Gibson at 570-465-3154.
