MIFFLIN TOWNSHIP -- A man accused of burglarizing his former boss' house in Columbia County is now charged with trying to kill him.

Jason Foust of Sweet Valley now faces charges including attempted criminal homicide, burglary, and aggravated assault.

Police near Berwick say Foust shot his former boss in the head on Sunday when the man caught Foust breaking into his home.

Jason Foust walked into district court in Catawissa to face charges connected to a shooting and burglary on Sunday at the home of his former boss, Barry Reynolds. The charges against Foust include attempted criminal homicide, burglary and aggravated assault.

"Jason do you have anything you want to say?"

"I'm sorry for the family. I hope Barry makes a full recovery," Foust said.

Foust is from Sweet Valley. Court papers show that, for about five years, he worked for a trucking company that Reynolds owns near Berwick. His employment there ended in February.

Police have also charged Pamela Favata with aggravated assault, burglary, and theft. Investigators say late Sunday morning she drove with Foust to Reynolds' house in Mifflin Township.

According to court papers, while Foust was burglarizing the house near Mifflinville, Reynolds came into the house through the garage. Both men reached for a gun owned by Reynolds. Foust got to it first, and police say he shot Reynolds in the head as the man tried to back his vehicle out of the garage.

After that, police say Foust and Favata drove away and Foust threw the gun over the Berwick Bridge into the Susquehanna. He also threw away some of the items he allegedly stole.

Foust tells Newswatch 16 he blames what happened on drugs. He says he became addicted to heroin and meth last year after his fiancée broke up with him.

Jason Foust is now locked up in Columbia County without bail. Barry Reynolds is recovering at Geisinger Medical Center near Danville.
