NESCOPECK -- Attempted murder charges were filed Thursday against a man accused of shooting his former boss in Columbia County.
Police say Jason Foust was in the process of burglarizing his boss's home when the shooting happened.
Jason Foust walked silently into his arraignment in Catawissa where he was charged with attempted criminal homicide for shooting his former boss, Barry Reynolds, in the head.
Police say the shooting happened at Reynolds’s home here in Nescopeck Sunday morning after Reynolds came home and found Foust burglarizing it.
Linda Schneck lives with Reynolds and says Foust left behind a mess ransacking the house.
During his arraignment Foust told the judge, he blames his addiction to heroin on why he broke into Reynolds home.
Schneck doesn't understand why Foust had to shoot him.
“You can`t even imagine, you can`t even imagine, how could somebody shoot another human being?,” said Schneck.
Police say Foust told them he worked for Reynolds for five years at Reynolds Transport until Bebruary of this year.
Court papers show that on the morning of November 2 Foust had Pam Favata drive him to Reynolds`s home so Foust could steal things from it.
Reynolds returned home, surprising Foust inside.
Foust then grabbed Reynolds`s gun and shot him in the head.
Police say as Reynolds ran out to his car, Foust continued shooting, firing shots through the windshield.
“How he ran for his life, that really hurt,” said Schneck. “I think he's starting to wake up now, he's following commands. He had surgery yesterday and they did remove the bullet from his head.”
Along with attempted homicide Foust faces charges related to the burglary at Reynolds's home as well as a burglary at another separate location.
He is locked up without bail.
