BARRETT TOWNSHIP -- State police now say that a balloon they got from Ohio will no longer be used in the search for accused cop killer Eric Frein.

Troopers say the balloon didn't work out because of the tree canopy and rugged terrain of the search area.

State police also say a reported sighting of Frein Tuesday along Route 390 near Canadensis turned up empty.

Investigators said Price, Barrett, Pocono, and Paradise Townships remain as the focus of the search.

About 150 troopers are currently searching the four townships in Monroe County for the man who police believe killed one state trooper and hurt another last month.

As state police are searching the woods in the Poconos for Eric Frein, their presence appears to be keeping away some unwanted visitors to the Buck Hill Inn.

We spoke with the caretaker at the old inn in Barrett Township about the changes he's noticed since the manhunt began.

John Styk has been the caretaker of the Buck Hill Inn for about nine and a half years, patrolling the property daily for anything unusual and to check for any unwanted visitors. He says he's seen it all.

"Everything that you can imagine, from break-ins to fireworks to, all different kinds of situations," Styk said.

Styk says since he began working there, he's helped Barrett Township police catch about 600 trespassers to date.

He says this week, Halloween week, is usually a popular week for anyone seeking out the paranormal, and trouble usually escalates, after MTV taped a show called "Fear" on the property years ago.

"MTV fictionalized all these things about ghosts and people committing suicide here and murders. It's all false."

The manhunt for Eric Frein has led troopers to search this inn several times, including just this week, making Styk's job this Halloween, a bit different.

"With the search for Eric Frein, it makes it much easier because of the other agencies also watching the inn."

Still, Styk walks the property several times a day, making sure no one is brave enough to try and break in with extra security around. But this caretaker does want anyone who's thinking about giving it a try to remember just one thing.

"This is private property. There's trespass signs all around the property. The people who own it do not want anyone on the property. Please respect that," Styk said.

Buck Hill Inn's caretaker says he believes Frein has visited the property in the past but hasn't seen any signs of Frein since then.

Anyone found on the property, the caretakers says, will face charges.
