If you turned off the television after watching the first half of Ohio State vs. Penn State, then you were probably shocked to learn the final score, upon waking up this morning. The Nittany Lions put up 24 unanswered points, taking the lead at one point in overtime, and eventually took this rivalry to double overtime. Penn State ultimately lost, 31-24 in 2OT.  At the end of regulation, there was so much promise that a win was in sight, and when it didn't happen, Coach James Franklin got emotional. He was still choked up when addressing the media after the game.

Coach Franklin also expressed his desire to address the controversial calls, or lack their of, during the game, but remained politically correct on the matter.  In the first quarter, after ruling that Ohio State's Vonn Bell had intercepted Christian Hackenberg's pass, the play was reviewed, and the call was upheld. But, after the game, head referee, John O'Neill, admitted that the "play was not reviewed thoroughly, due to technical difficulties," Several replays shown on the video board inside Beaver Stadium, clearly showed that the ball hit the ground, and was not an interception. But, the rule states, that referees cannot use the video board when reviewing plays.  Another play that had Coach Franklin a bit frustrated, revolves around Ohio State's 49 yard field goal. TV replays showed the clock with zeros for at least 2 seconds before the kick, but a delay of game was never called, and O'Neill admitted he never saw it.

Overall, a tough loss for the Nittany Lions, who fought hard to overcome a 17-0 halftime deficit.

Penn State's next game is this Saturday against Maryland.
