WILKES-BARRE -- Folks came out to a fundraiser that honored canine caregivers in Wilkes-Barre.
Bark for Life kicked off Saturday morning in Kirby Park.
Dogs and their owners took part in the event, which included a dog walk to honor dogs that provide comfort for those with cancer.
A ceremony was also held to honor pets who have cancer or died from the disease.
Organizers say the event is a great way to reach others in the community.
"We reached a group of people we don't normally reach with our regular relay event, so it's the perfect way to get more people involved," said event leader Sara Klinges.
There was also a basket raffle, costume contest, and lots of treats for both the dogs and their owners.
The event raised money to support the American Cancer Society.
