POTTSVILLE -- A woman on trial in Schuylkill County for killing her mother’s boyfriend was found not guilty on all counts.

Kimberly Hons left the Schuylkill County Courthouse free of all the charges she faced for the death of her mother`s boyfriend.

Her trial in Pottsville lasted only one day and it took the jury only a few hours to find her not guilty on all counts.

“All I wanted is for people to see what it was not for what they were trying to make it seem,” said Hons. “Really all I have to say is I`ll never be the same but I just want peace and healing for both families.”

Hons was facing two felony counts, voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault, for the stabbing death of Larry Quinn.

Police found Quinn dead inside a home in Mahanoy City back in December.

Hons told police Quinn and her mother got into an argument. Hons got involved and said Quinn began to fight with her, grabbing her by her throat.

Hons said she grabbed a knife and stabbed him but did it in self-defense.

“It`s an awful situation. There`s nothing good about the situation, the predicament that I was put in, what happened, our lives are never going to be the same,” said Hons.

“You have to respect the decision of the jury. You may not like it all the time, but you have to respect it. The commonwealth`s evidence was just not enough to get us over the hump of beyond a reasonable doubt,” said Schuylkill County District Attorney Christine Holman.

Several witnesses testified in the trial, however Hons chose not to take the stand.

“I don`t think I could have held myself together, I don`t think,” said Hons. “I think it was just best for them to see all sides because I already told the truth once. I don`t think I needed to repeat myself.”

The jury also cleared Hons of two misdemeanor charges, possessing an instrument of a crime and recklessly endangering another person.
