In the first round of the PIAA Girl's Tennis Team Championships the Abington Heights Lady Comets-the District 2 champions took on Manheim Township-the #2 seed from District 3 at Birchwood Tennis and Fitness Club on Tuesday afternoon in Clarks Summit.
#1 single had Tyra Abdalla (Abington Heights) vs Carolyn Mann (Manheim Township) playing. Then is was Caroline Matisse vs. Katie Corey at #2 singles. Rachel Smertz the Lady Comets #3 seed took on Carolyn Kitsock.
In the first doubles match it was Catherine Pusateri and Jessica Rickwood vs. Julie Darkey and Lizzi McBride.
And in the second doubles the team of Sandra Lionetti and Ajna Prahalad vs. Taylor Johnson and Julia Derus from Manheim Township.
The winner in Tuesday's opening round advances to Friday's quarterfinals at the Hershey Racquet Club in Hershey at 9:30am. The winner here gets the winner of the Central and Conestoga match. The Girl's Team Tennis Championship is set for Saturday October 25th in Hershey.
