In the pouring rain on Wednesday afternoon at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds just north of Meshoppen along Route 6 hundreds of runners from the Wyoming Valley Conference competed in the league cross country championships.

On the girl's side it was Ally Rome from Dallas winning in 19 minutes 26 seconds on the sloppy course. Rome a junior runner finished 2nd in this same race a year ago one spot behind older sister Regan Rome now running at William and Mary.

Dominic Hockenbury the junior runner from Lake Lehman won on the boy's side in a time of 15 minutes 43 seconds. Jack Tidball from Tunkhannock finished in 2nd place behind Hockenbury.

All the qualified runners from District 2 will compete at Elk Lake Area high-school next Wednesday in the District championships. States in at Hershey on November 1st.
