DICKSON CITY -- More than 80 employers came out to Dickson City for the 15th Annual Northeast Job Fair.
Hundreds of people from northeastern Pennsylvania arrived on Wednesday to fill out applications and talk to company representatives about new job opportunities.
"I have CDL A as well as class B with tanker endorsements, I want a job driving or also welding or pipe fitting," said Joel Ram from Gouldsboro.
Job seekers in Lackawanna County said they like the idea of a job fair since they get one-on-one time with employers.
"This way is more hands-on than the opposite way," said Antwan Potts from Scranton.
According to the United States Department of Labor, the nation's unemployment rate dropped to 5. 9%.
Here in Pennsylvania, that rate is slightly less at 5. 8%, but people who are looking for a new job said it's not always about the paycheck.
"It's not so much wages, it's also transportation and housing," said Ram.
Many people at the job fair in Dickson City said that when it comes to landing that job, they're feeling pretty good.
Ram said, "I feel very enthusiastic. I love to work. I've always worked two jobs in my life. "
"There's a lot of nice jobs out here, really, there's a lot of opportunities. I've seen a lot, talked to a lot of people. It's very nice. It's very good," said Donna Tyson from Wilkes-Barre.
The job fair also offered help on resume writing and tweaking for those who hope to look for a job in the future.
