PRICE TOWNSHIP -- Accused cop killer Eric Frein still hasn't been caught, but two big pieces of information were released.

CNN reports that authorities have found a letter from the suspect detailing how he shot the troopers last month and escaped.

And court papers show that Frein stayed at a friend's apartment in the Stroudsburg area one day before the shooting.

Most of the search warrants in this investigation have been sealed, meaning that no one is allowed access to that information, but these warrants were not sealed and because of them we're now learning more about the case investigators are building against Eric Frein as he continues to hide from police.

Scattered police activity was about all that was seen in Price and Barrett Townships, as the manhunt for alleged cop killer Eric Frein drags into day 24 in the Canadensis area.

But the investigation remains very active. Search warrants obtained by Newswatch 16 now detail what police have confiscated from Frein's family home: night vision goggles, hard drives, paper targets, cell phones, and writings just for starters.

Police surrounded and searched a home on Ridgeway Street near East Stroudsburg University a few weeks ago.

Courtney Druckenmiller watched it all from her front porch.

"At that time I wasn't sure what Eric looked like, but we heard that he had a friend on the street so we were scared, like what was he doing? We don't know what's going to happen," Druckenmiller said.

She took cell phone video as Frein's friend Justin Smith walked away from his rental apartment with hands up.

According to warrants, Frein stayed there, before shooting two troopers outside the Blooming Grove barracks.

The whole scene was unnerving for the students, who never saw Frein visit his friend there.

"It was weird because people still had to go to class," said ESU sophomore Casandra Destefano. "And there's cops and our roads are shut."

Frein also texted his friend about four and a half hours before the deadly shooting.

CNN is reporting two senior law enforcement officials now say a handwritten letter of Frein's was discovered during the manhunt and inside it, details of how he shot the officers and then escaped.

Details on where or when it was found still remain under wraps.

ESU students say they're being careful just in case Frein decides to ever return.

"He's been planning it for a long time, so I don't know. I don't know what he has in mind so, that's why I'm saying, like, we're taking measures to stay protected and all of that," said ESU junior John Fosu.

One of the reasons the state police manhunt may have been more subdued is that thousands of troopers were in Philadelphia for the funeral of a 26-year-old rookie officer who was accidentally shot last week.
