SCRANTON -- A former teacher who admitted to a sexual relationship with one of his students was sentenced to jail time on Wednesday.
Matthew Stevens was sentenced to six to 23 months in jail.
Stevens pleaded guilty in June to having sexual contact with a former student while he was a band teacher at Lakeland High School in 2012.
He was charged in February of 2013.
Stevens must also register as a sex offender for 15 years and must pay $2,000 that will go towards counseling for the victim.
He is no longer a teacher at Lakeland High School.
