BARRY TOWNSHIP -- There has been another case of people throwing things at vehicles on the road, this time damaging a truck in Schuylkill County.

Police say it happened early Tuesday, smashing the windshield, forcing the driver to stop and his truck to be towed.

He wasn't hurt, but we certainly have learned the consequences of this kind of behavior recently.

A truck driver was just doing his job, riding along a stretch of Route 901 near Lavelle early Tuesday morning when suddenly the windshield in front of him smashed.

Police say it's because someone threw tomatoes and other objects at his truck.

Drivers familiar with this road are angry this has happened.

"That's crazy. It's so close to home, you know? And the kids don't realize how they could kill someone or hurt someone else," said Ken Zweizig of Lavelle.

This comes only days after we showed you an update on the condition of Sharon Budd, the Ohio woman severely injured in a rock-throwing incident along Interstate 80 in Union County this summer. Her life will never be the same after teens are accused of throwing rocks that hit her.

Now someone targeted a truck in Schuylkill County.

"They just think, 'It's kids stuff.' It ain't kid stuff. It could kill someone," Zweizig said.

The truck that was damaged was from Reinhart Food Service near Shamokin. That truck had to be towed and another truck had to go pick up the trailer. Fortunately the driver wasn't hurt.

"You hope it doesn't happen to you and you feel bad about the people it happens to," said West Virginia truck driver Stu Merrell.

Merrell stopped to fill up his truck along Route 901. He had heard about the Sharon Budd case. We told him about the latest incident.

"When I was young I guess I got into trouble, but it never really involved hurting other people or anything like that."

He worries about rock throwers when he's on the road. A lot of drivers say they need to keep an eye out behind the wheel.

"You have to be on the alert all the time," said Harry Wedde.

State police say whoever damaged that truck in Schuylkill County took off. If you know who did it, call state police at Schuylkill Haven.
