CONSHOHOCKEN — A Pennsylvania state trooper died after an accidental shooting at a firing range in Montgomery County, according to state police.

Officials said it happened around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Montgomery County Public Safety Training Center in Conshohocken.

State police identified the trooper as David Kedra, 26, of Philadelphia.

According to State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan, Kedra was taking part in a training exercise when he was shot in the chest.

Kedra joined the state police June 18, 2012.

“He died serving the people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the men and women of the Pennsylvania State Police mourn his loss and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends,” Commissioner Noonan said in a statement.

The incident is under investigation.
