WILKES-BARRE -- Officers are expected to search a home in Kingston as they try to figure out who shot a man and abandoned him at a hospital in Wilkes-Barre.

It was not the sight people leaving doctor's appointments expected to see outside Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Ambulances were detoured to another emergency room entrance after a shooting victim was dropped off just before 10 a.m. Tuesday.

"Boy, I bet you they're going to the hospital. Something went crazy up there. I thought maybe it was something in the hospital," said William Welfel of Wilkes-Barre

Welfel was worried when he saw police cruisers rush to the hospital.

Officers say two people in the car that brought the shooting victim to the ER were seen running off.

The ambulance bay was closed for nearly two hours until the car was towed away.

Officials at Wilkes-Barre General say the ER and hospital operations inside were not affected by the police investigation outside.

"You see all the police cars here. It kind of makes you wonder, you know? Am I safe going to the hospital anymore? It's just crazy," Welfel said.

Wilkes-Barre General Hospital officials tell us everyone there is safe.

As for the shooting victim, there's no word on who he is or how many times he was shot, but police say they expect him to recover.

Officers in Kingston are working to figure out who is involved, where and why that man was shot.
