BLOOMING GROVE TOWNSHIP -- State police say they are confident 31-year-old Eric Frein remains in the wooded areas along the Pike-Monroe County line that troopers have been targeting for days, running through Barrett and Price Townships.

Police say within the past 24 hours, Frein was spotted in those woods by troopers.

“The state police continue to ask the public for any photos previously taken from trail cameras in the area which may contain images of Frein or any other suspicious activity,” said Lt. Col. George Bivens, the deputy commissioner of operations for the Pennsylvania State Police.

State police have now been searching for Frein for 18 days after they say he shot two state troopers outside the state police barracks at Blooming Grove, killing Corporal Bryon Dickson and wounding Trooper Alex Douglass.

Police have been focusing on the wooded area that surrounds Frein`s home in Candensis.

On Tuesday police announced they have also discovered new evidence in the woods left behind by Frein.

Most alarmingly, two functional pipe bombs were found believed to be made by Frein.

Police say those bombs could be set off either by trip wire or with a fuse.

“These devices are consistent with Frein`s non-confrontational and gutless efforts to kill or to injure law enforcement,” said Bivens.

Investigators would not say what other evidence they found, only to say it appears Frein left those items behind in a rush.

“I am calling on you, Eric, to surrender. You are clearly stressed. You are making significant mistakes,” said Bivens. “We continue to take your supplies and your weapon stockpiles, while you are no doubt weakening, our troopers resolve is very strong.”
