PRICE TOWNSHIP -- As he made his way into the woods in Monroe County, a trooper told Newswatch 16 he believed this might be the day.

A reported sighting of accused cop killer Eric Frein had police out in force early Sunday along Snow Hill Road in Price Township near Canadensis.

As the day went on the hunt extended east into a picnic area at the edge of the Delaware State Forest in Monroe County.

Residents say even though the search has gone on for more than two weeks, they still believe Frein is here, just a few miles from his family's home.

"I pray every day. I just want this over and done with. I want this guy caught and just gone from this area," said Shaun Rowe of Price Township.

One woman who didn't want to be identified said she saw Frein on the run, hiding from helicopters.

"Right after the helicopters, like he was timing them, he came up from the road and then just like sort of followed behind them," she said.

Robert Reinheimer of Canadensis called police about a possible underground hiding spot.

"They did want the information and wanted to know if I could show them where it was at," Reinheimer said.

The manhunt is taking a toll on the area.

At the Stonewall Garden Center in Canadensis it's prime time to pick a pumpkin. Owner Elaine Bubb said many customers are not sure if they can get to her store due to the search.

"Oh my goodness, we probably get 30 to 50 calls a day, just to see if people can come through this way or which way is the best way to get here," said Bubb.

While some people worry about the impact on the local economy, others wonder about the cost of the manhunt to taxpayers.

"I think it is money well spent, but I also hope they really know he is in the area and not wasting taxpayer dollars."

While some residents wonder about the cost to tax payers, they say you can't put a price on safety.

"You have to worry about it, but you have no choice. When you live in a society like this, this is one of the reasons you pay taxes,” said Roy McDaniel of Price Township.
