SCRANTON -- Bryon Dickson, Sr., the father of Corporal Bryon Dickson, the state trooper who was killed during an ambush at the state police barracks at Blooming Grove, said the support his family has received since the shooting has been incredible.

"We're taking it day by day and that's all you can do," Dickson said.

Now the fallen trooper's family is getting even more help.

The Vault Tap and Kitchen in Scranton held a benefit for Cpl. Dickson's wife and kids. All the money from the event will go to the trooper’s family, especially for the two young sons Cpl. Dickson left behind.

"It's kind of a fog, dad's there one day and gone the next," said Dickson.

Cpl. Dickson's father said with help like this the family will get through this tragic time.

"With Tiffany, she's a strong, strong mom and I think they're going to get everything that they need," he said.

Co-owner of The Vault, Eric Shrive, said Cpl. Dickson never came to this place, but he wanted to do something here in Scranton for the trooper’s family while the search for his killer in the Poconos continues.

"It's a terrible tragedy and we really want to rally around the people who keep us safe," said Shrive.

Even those who didn't know Cpl. Dickson came to the event to support the family and pay their respects.

"You have to help out every chance that you get. I used to be law enforcement back in the day, and I was in the military so I definitely have a good call to this kind of stuff," said Randall Main of Wilkes-Barre

And as the search continues for Eric Frein, the man state police believe gunned down Cpl. Dickson. The trooper’s family says they support the state police 100 percent.

"I can't express my thanks for the Pennsylvania State Troopers and all that they've done," Dickson said.
