PRICE TOWNSHIP -- It's been nearly a week since state police shifted the focus of this manhunt to the Canadensis area of Monroe County.

Residents' lives are far from what they used to be, seeing this whole thing play out in their backyards.

"It's been like you think of a war zone."

Donna Pauling has watched and waited for the heavily armed police at the end of her driveway near Canadensis to capture Eric Frein. She and her husband put a sign up over the weekend while hoping the end of this massive search is near.

"It's been scary, completely different atmosphere up here," Pauling said.

For nearly a week now, residents on Rock Ledge Drive have seen a huge police presence on their roads and out their windows.

"A lot of guys with guns, rifles, all kinds of weapons, traffic, roadblocks," Sam Mercado said.

Police put a green sticker on Mercado's home and on his neighbors' homes after checking them for any sign of Frein.

"(It's) uncomfortable, especially we don't know, we go by daily. Every day is something new," said Mercado.

Folks who live in this part of Price Township have seen a lot of police activity on their own properties these past few days, including Aaron Poster who posted video to Facebook.

"There was 10 guys all in vests, carrying rifles, all here on the deck. I gave them the house key. They came in and looked through," said Kim Schmidt.

Schmidt and her husband Jeff planned to move to Florida this week but couldn't get to their home for several days due to the ongoing manhunt.

Seeing all this play out for the first time, Schmidt says it's something she'll never forget.

"Seeing them walk around with guns isn't a scary thought. Thank goodness we haven't heard any gunfire, nothing started like that. That would probably scare us."
