JESSUP -- A yearly event in Lackawanna County that honors the men and women who serve and protect took on extra special meaning Saturday.

Heroes Day was held at the 911 center in Jessup, giving folks a chance to see all sorts of fire and police gear up close.

This year, Heroes Day honored Corporal Bryon Dickson and Trooper Alex Douglass.

Wives of Pennsylvania State Troopers had shirts for sale that say "PSP STRONG"

County officials said it's a great way to remind everyone how much troopers do.

"I think this weekend really has an added meaning to heroes when we look at what's happening right now with our state troopers," said Lackawanna County Commissioner Jim Wansacz.

There was all sorts of swat gear, K-9 units, and fire safety tips during Heroes Day.
