HAWLEY -- Residents in Pike County have been on high alert since the ambush shooting at the state police barracks at Blooming Grove last Friday night.

As the days pass, people are trying to make life in the Poconos as normal as possible.

"It's just hard to know what people are thinking. It's hard to know what to think. You try not to be scared, but you are scared. And of course everybody is just sad," said Juliana Brussell of the Lake Region IGA.

At the Lake Region IGA in Hawley, people decided to help.

Shoppers are donating money and filling out hang tags which have begun to take over the entrance to the store.

"We tried to come up with an idea on how we could get anyone involved and feel good about helping."

The tags cost $1, or whatever someone would like to contribute.

The money is donated to an online fundraiser set up by the wives of state troopers.

The funds are expected to go to families of  Corporal Bryon Dickson and Trooper Alex Douglass.

The Lake Region IGA is also helping troopers who are searching for 31-year-old Eric Frein.  Frein is the man state police believe shot and killed Dickson and injured Douglass.

"We're also helping with the red cross and supplying food products for the search teams, so we want to get back to normal. We want our community safe and happy again," said Jim Shook of Hawley.
