BLOOMING GROVE TOWNSHIP -- The suspect in the deadly shooting of a state trooper last week had a longstanding grudge against law enforcement and government, according to state police investigators at a news conference Wednesday.

Investigators said the suspect, Eric Frein, 31, of Canadensis, belonged to a military simulation unit in Pennsylvania and may be acting out the war games in real life.

"We also understand that Frein belongs to a military simulation unit based in eastern PA where participants assume the role as Soliders of eastern European countries," said Lt. Col. George Bivens, Pennsylvania State Police.

Troopers said Frein may now have his head shaved on the sides with long hair wider than a Mohawk-style cut on top. Investigators said this was in mental preparation for the ambush last week.

Officials released photos posted on a social media site of Frein dressed in paramilitary uniforms.

Authorities say Frein has shaved the sides of his head wider than a Mohawk would be.

He is about 6'1", 165 pounds, and has blue eyes.

"In the event you are listening to this broadcast… while cowering in some cool, damp hiding place, I want you to know one thing. Eric, we are coming for you," said Lt. Col. George Bivens, Pennsylvania State Police.

Police are asking the public, especially people who live in Pike County, to stay alert.

However, officials believe the suspect is specifically going after state police.

"Based on our investigations it is clear to us that Eric Frein has a longstanding grudge with law enforcement in general since at least 2006."

Pennsylvania State Police held their news conference at the Blooming Grove Township building because search groups are now working down the road at the Pike County Training Facility for a bigger space for all those searching.

"We need to step it up. We're going to make them more comfortable here, making sure they have food and bunks," explained Pike County Sheriff Phil Bueki.

Officials say more than 150 law enforcement personnel are still out searching for Frein.

The Pike County district attorney has a message for anyone who might try to help the suspect during this manhunt.

"Any family member or friend of Frein who is found to help him while we are searching for him will be vigorously prosecuted," said D.A. Raymond Tonkin.

If you have any information to help police track down Eric Frein, you’re asked to call 866-326-7256.
