BOCA RATON, FL -- Margaret Walson, the co-founder of Service Electric Cable Television has died.

Walson, along with her late husband John, are credited with creating the first cable television company in the nation when they formed Service Electric Cable Television in Mahanoy City in 1948.

Walson died Wednesday at her home in Boca Raton, Florida, according to Service Electric,

Walson, originally of Luzerne County, ran an appliance store with her husband John. John invented Cable Television in order to market and sell television sets in the store. Eventually, cable television took over as the family business.

Following John's death in 1993, Margaret continued to serve as an executive of the corporation.
