BLOOMING GROVE TOWNSHIP -- People who live and work around the very rural area of Blooming Grove in Pike County have been pretty much in the dark since the deadly shooting of a state trooper happened late Friday.

As the search for whoever carried out the attack continues, folks around Blooming Grove are in shock, waiting for some word that police are closer to the truth.

There was still a heavy police presence at the state police barracks at Blooming Grove on Route 402 three days after someone ambushed troopers during a shift change.

The FBI is now involved using high tech equipment to gather evidence, heading into the wooded area across from the barracks.

Flowers have been left near the spot where troopers came under fire.

Neighbors have been on alert ever since the attack Friday night and Fred Demercurio said he knows that finding whoever killed Corporal Bryon Dickson and wounded Trooper Alex Douglass could be difficult.

"They've been with us for a long time now. We're all friends and I hope they get the fella."

On Sunday, the search on the ground continued around the area of the state police barracks with a large number of law enforcement looking for clues.

Still, Demercurio is not necessarily anticipating another attack.

"Everything's fine. I feel nothing else is going to happen. I feel safe. Troopers are doing a good job. They'll continue to do a real good job."

"We're used to seeing these troopers. They're our protection. They eat in our local businesses," said Blooming Grove Township supervisor Nicholas Mazza.

Mazza said there's been an outpouring of support for the troopers. He said everyone around there is on the lookout for anything out of the norm, while state police cast a wider and wider net for the shooter.

"This is an attack not just on state police, but on community, but society as a whole, it affects everybody."

Police urge anyone with information to call the tip line at 866-326-7256.
