DUNMORE -- As the massive manhunt continues to find the killer, we are learning more about the trooper who lost his life.

Corporal Bryon Dickson is being mourned by family, friends and complete strangers as a man who dedicated his life to serving others and who died just doing his job.

Cpl. Dickson was a state trooper for seven years, a United States Marine, a Penn State grad, but his was a life of service cut short Friday night at the state police barracks in Blooming Grove.

Cpl. Dickson was gunned down only a few months after being transferred there, and what was lost on that night goes far beyond service to state and country.

Cpl. Dickson was a husband who just celebrated his 10 year anniversary. He was a father of two young boys. He was a son, a brother, an uncle.

Now he is man mourned by many, All over Dunmore, flags fly at half-staff. This is where Cpl. Dickson and his family lived and where a lot of people are stunned hearing the news of his death.

"It's been the talk of the counter. We have our regulars who come in and everyone was concerned about it," said Jennifer DePaolo.

DePaolo works at Dunmore Bucktown Diner. Workers there remember Cpl. Dickson and his family coming there to eat. Now they can't imagine the family's loss.

"It was devastating. You just kind of feel for the family. He's got two boys. You just think about that, yeah."

Of course, the state police across Pennsylvania are in mourning. The flag flies at half-staff at the Dunmore barracks.

Penn State University mourned its fallen alumnus on Twitter.

Veterans are saddened hearing about the loss of a Marine.

"I'm a serviceman myself, too, and I couldn't believe it. I just couldn't believe it," said Tom Misiura of Olyphant.

The flag flies in tribute to the trooper at the Price Chopper in Dunmore where even customers who never knew Cpl. Dickson are saddened.

"I think it's sad. I think anyone who has families, it's heart-wrenching. I feel bad for the wives and children, everyone involved," said Bonnie Thomas of Scranton.

Those we talked to in Dunmore say the community will do whatever it can to support the Dickson family as they go through this unthinkable time.
