Funeral Arrangements for Corporal Bryon K. Dickson II

Corporal Bryon K. Dickson II, 38, Dunmore, died late Friday night at the Pennsylvania State Police Blooming Grove Barracks. He and his wife the former Tiffany Antos had celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on August 20th.

Born in Minot, North Dakota he was the son of Bryon K. and Darla Shoop Dickson of Falls, PA. Bryon was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, having earned a B.A. in Administration of Justice and a minor in Sociology. He served his country and state honorably as both a U.S. Marine and as a Pennsylvania State Trooper. Bryon will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend that will be missed more than words can express.

Upon graduation from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 2007, Bryon was stationed at Troop N, Fern Ridge, where he was assigned to conduct aggressive patrol operations throughout Monroe and Carbon counties. Bryon had a sincere passion for DUI enforcement, earning multiple awards from the Pennsylvania DUI Association and numerous State Police commendations. His passion for removing impaired drivers from our streets led to Bryon completing his Drug Recognition Expert certification, becoming one of the few highly-trained troopers tasked with identifying drug-impaired drivers. In July of 2013, Bryon was promoted to Corporal and assigned to Troop K, Philadelphia. He was subsequently transferred to Troop R, Blooming Grove in June of 2014 where he served as a Patrol Unit Supervisor.

Also surviving are two young sons, Bryon Keith Dickson III and Adam Robert Dickson, at home, a sister Stacey Hinkley and her husband Mark, Sweet Valley, PA and a brother Brandon Dickson and his wife Candice, Kansas, nieces and nephews Devin, Jacob, and Gabriel Dickson and Joshua and Kaelyn Hinkley.

The public visitation for Cpl. Bryon Dickson will be Wednesday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the rotunda of the Liberal Arts building at Marywood University, 2300 Adams Avenue in Scranton.

Trooper Dickson is only the second person to have his public visitation at Marywood. The first was Governor Robert Casey in 2000.

A Marywood official tells Newswatch 16 that Bishop Joseph Bambera asked Marywood to help, and the university quickly agreed.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Cathedral, 315 Wyoming Avenue in Scranton by Pennsylvania State Police Chaplin Rev. Thomas M. Muldowney, V.G.

Burial with full honors will take place in the Dunmore Cemetery.
