PENN FOREST TOWNSHIP -- A search is underway in Carbon County for a man state police say tried to lure children into his car twice this week.

State police tell us they are asking for the public's help as they try to track down a man who attempted to lure teens into a green convertible while they were walking home from the bus stop in the Poconos.

The bus stop in the Mount Pocahontas development in Carbon County has the attention of state police. Troopers say twice this week a man tried to lure three different kids into his green convertible, all while they were walking home from their bus stop on Pawnee Trail.

Nicholas Henszey is a father of two who lives just a few blocks from that bus stop in Penn Forest Township.

"It's kind of scary. It makes you think, you know? Because living up here, I let my kids run around when I'm doing yard work, mowing the grass."

The students were coming home from the Jim Thorpe Area School District. Two 13 year olds were from the Penn Kidder School. The other 16 year old was on the way home from the high school.

The superintendent said the district sent an alert to parents soon after learning of the incidents.

"We're trying to be proactive and just a reminder to our students and parents to just be aware of their surroundings and just keep their eyes open for suspicious activity," advised Jim Thorpe Area Superintendent Brian Gasper

Neighbors say they're going to be keeping an extra eye out as kids are walking to and from the bus stop.

Allen Lloyd lives along Pawnee Trail and said he'll be on the lookout and he's encouraging his neighbors to do the same.

"Just be careful what you're doing and know the people in your community and just help. That's the best thing we can do. If you see something say something," Lloyd said.

Henszey said he hasn't seen anything suspicious just yet.

"No, I haven't, you know, and I don't watch TV too much so it's usually pretty silent. I usually hear everything. My windows are always open, so it's definitely something to keep an eye out for now."

Troopers are again asking for the community's help in this case. If you have any information, contact state police in Fern Ridge at 570-646-2271.
